Pectoral Implants Denver

Pec Implant Plastic Surgery

Pectoral Implants

The muscles that create the buff, pumped appearance in the upper chest behind the breasts are the pectoral muscles (pectoralis major and pectoralis minor), better known as the “pec’s”. With serious weight-lifting and exercise directed toward these muscles, they can be seriously developed. But there are people who, regardless of their training program can get only a modest improvement without resorting to using illegal anabolic steroid drugs. For them, these implants are the answer to an unfulfilled dream.

There are a number of different styles, shapes, and sizes of implants. Those will be discussed with you at consultation. The style and size most appropriate for your body shape and dimensions will be discussed, but the final size decision may need to be finalized during surgery as we determine the tissue tolerances and stretchability.
The surgery is done under a general anesthetic as an out-patient in the Rose Ambulatory Surgery Center in Denver. An incision is made in the armpit adjacent to the edge of the muscle. A space is then created beneath the pectoral muscle down to its lower edge. After sizing the pocket to determine the correct implant size, the implant is placed in this space and the incision is closed. A lightly compressive wrap dressing will cover the arm. This should not be removed or altered for the first 24 hours. After that, it can be removed to shower and then replaced in exactly the same way as it was put on.

Our patients are encouraged to be physically active but to limit vigorous upper arm movement and even light lifting for the first week with activity gradually increasing over the next 3 weeks. Full activity is resumed at about 4 weeks after surgery. Daily physical activity should be in the form of walking either out-of-doors or on a treadmill, riding an exercise bike, or carefully bicycling out-of-doors.
