Grossman Plastic Surgery offers a variety of options to restore a youthful appearance in the facial region. If you are looking to get rid of droopy eye brows, horizontal lines in the forehead, and the appearance of a furrowed brow, a brow lift or forehead lift may be the ideal procedure to achieve your goals.
The brow lift and forehead lift can be considered two different procedures. It is common to have just sagging eyebrows, creating the appearance of excess upper lid skin. In this situation, the forehead does not need elevating. The brow can be repositioned without doing anything to the forehead. Under other circumstances, the laxity and furrowing of the forehead causes the brows to droop, and lifting the forehead will improve both forehead and brows.
Am I a Brow Lift Candidate?
Ideal candidates for a brow lift are between the ages of 40 and 60 and would like to:
- Improve the appearance of sagging brow lines and eyelids
- Reduce wrinkles or creases along the forehead region
A receding hairline or baldness will not rule you out as a brow lift candidate. However, Dr. Grossman and Dr. Capraro may have to alter the incision location in order to reduce the visibility of your scar.
The Brow Lift Procedure
Our Denver plastic surgeons offer four options for your brow lift procedure:
- Classic coronal forehead lift
- Endoscopic forehead lift
- Roman shade brow lift
- Endotine brow lift
In the classic coronal forehead lift, an incision is made an inch or two behind the edge of your hairline or in front of the hairline. Forehead skin is removed to smooth out any wrinkles and furrows present in the region.
The endoscopic forehead lift utilizes smaller incisions in your hairline. A microscopic camera on the end of a thin tube is inserted into the incision to view the tissues and muscles being treated on a TV screen. Dr. Grossman and Dr. Capraro will then make the required alterations. Since the incisions are smaller, the endoscopic brow lift is less invasive, and you will experience only minimal scarring and a quicker recovery period.
The “Roman Shade” brow lift is a specialized procedure developed by Dr. Grossman. It does not affect the forehead. The main purpose of this procedure is to elevate the brow and eliminate excess upper brow lid skin caused by dropping.
Recovery and Follow-Up Care
You may experience some numbness and discomfort near the incision which can be alleviated with pain medication. There will be minor swelling and bruising which should subside within three weeks.
While you should be moving around a day or two after surgery, you should only engage in light activity for about a week. You will most likely be able to return to work within 7-10 days, but it may take several weeks before you can resume strenuous physical activity.
Dr. Grossman and Dr. Capraro have performed thousands of brow lifts, enabling patients to enjoy a substantially rejuvenated facial appearance.
