Pre-Pregnancy

The first aspects to consider are the implications if you undergo a breast augmentation in Denver and then become pregnant.

At Grossman Plastic Surgery, we always advise women that they should only undergo a breast augmentation if they have decided not to have any more children. There are a couple reasons for this:

  • Pregnancy can have negative effects on your breast tissue and cause significant sagging, even with implants
  • In some rare cases implants can make it difficult to breast feed

Of course, we understand that life doesn’t always go according to our plans, and many women have had children after undergoing a breast augmentation. There is nothing in a breast implant, either saline or silicone, that will interfere with your ability to have a child.

Post-Pregnancy

Far more common are Denver women who come to us after pregnancy asking about the restorative potential of a breast augmentation. As we mentioned above, pregnancy and breastfeeding can result in lost breast volume and significant sagging.

A breast augmentation can address the first issue, while a breast lift is usually appropriate for severe sagging issues.

If you’re looking for a more extensive restoration, we use a breast augmentation as part of a larger mommy makeover, which can also include:

  • Tummy tuck
  • Liposuction
  • Buttock lift

We know that you want to consider all the issues when you engage in family planning. Grossman Plastic Surgery is committed to helping all of our patients receive safe, effective plastic surgery that is appropriate for their family status.
