The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has released its annual report documenting the state of American plastic surgery, this time for the year 2015. The report contains a number of interesting facts, chief among them that Americans spent more than $13.5 billion on plastic surgery last year.
You can find the full report here and read it at your leisure. It's fun reading for anyone interested in the evolution of the plastic surgery discipline.
Here are some interesting facts from the report:
BOTOX® remains the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure.
Women underwent more than 11.5 million cosmetic procedures, more than 90 percent of the overall total
Men underwent 1.2 million procedures, a 325-percent increase from 1997, when the ASAPS first began keeping these numbers
Breast augmentation was most popular with patients between the ages of 19 and 34, while liposuction was the procedure of choice for patients between 35 and 64.
