How Long do Breast Implants Last?

Plastic Surgeons serving Denver, Littleton, and Surrounding Areas in Colorado

It is important to remember that breast augmentation can provide you long-lasting results, but will not last forever. Typically, the life expectancy of a breast implant is 10 years. This does not mean that yours cannot last longer. It also does not mean that yours will last that long. Every situation is unique. This will be discussed with you in full during your initial consultation with one of our Denver breast surgeons.

Breast Implant Options

At Grossman Plastic Surgery, we offer both saline and silicone breast implants. In many cases, silicone implants offer a longer lifespan because they are less likely to result in aesthetic imperfections such as rippling, wrinkling, and separation (double-bubble) that may result in early implant replacement.

In addition, the placement of your breast implants can play a role in how long your results last. If you choose submuscular breast implant placement, the muscles in your chest can hide common aesthetic imperfections, allowing your implant to provide longer-lasting results.

This is entirely unique for every woman. During your initial consultation with Dr. Grossman or Dr. Capraro, what you can realistically expect from your breast augmentation procedure will be discussed in greater detail.
